Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy (born December 12, 1968) is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and producer. She is the youngest of the eleven children of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy.
Kennedy married Mark Bailey on August 2, 1999. They have three children: Georgia Elizabeth Kennedy-Bailey, born in September 2002; Bridget Katherine Kennedy-Bailey, born in July 2004; and Zachary Corkland Kennedy-Bailey born in July 16, 2007 at 9:47 am, weighing in at 8 lbs, 10 oz at the NYU Medical Center in Manhattan. The family resides in Brooklyn.
Film career
Kennedy's life has been marked by family tragedy. Her father, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in June of 1968, six months prior to her birth.
In 1984, her brother, David, died of a drug overdose after a long and much publicized battle with drug addiction. Another sibling, Robert Jr., and other Kennedys of her generation have experienced public battles with substance abuse.
In 1997, her brother, Michael, perished in an Aspen, Colorado, skiing accident which occurred while she was present.
Two years later, her cousin John F. Kennedy, Jr., his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and his wife's sister, Lauren Bessette, died in a plane crash en route to her wedding on Martha's Vineyard, which was originally scheduled for July 17. The wedding was postponed, and a considerably scaled-down ceremony was held two weeks later.
